A note about August
August, in Mireille's words

We close from the 1st to the 24th of August. The steam iron goes off, I go down to my sister's in the Drôme and I try very hard not to make anything with my hands for three weeks. If you post a frame to us during that time it is perfectly safe; it waits on the shelf by the door and it is the first thing I open when I'm back.

Mireille

These are the usual lead times, and the quote gives the real date for your shade. A new welded frame adds one week to any of them. The workshop also closes from 24 December to 2 January.

What to put in your email

For a Quick Quote

Five things, and most emails only need the first three.

01Photos

The lamp with the shade off, the old shade or frame from the side, and a close look at anything broken. For an old frame, the guide to what can be saved shows what to photograph.

02Measurements

Across the top ring, across the bottom ring and the drop between them, in centimetres. The drawing on the new shades page shows where each one is taken.

03The fitting

Duplex, E27 ring, clip-on or UNO, if you know it. If not, a photograph from above with the old shade on is enough.

04The fabric you have in mind

Linen, silk, cotton or card, a colour, or a length of your own fabric. Leaving it open is fine too; Mireille will suggest two or three.

05Any date you are working to

A move, a wedding, a room being finished. Say so in the first email, and the quote will say plainly whether it can be met. Nothing is promised in under 10 working days.
